One of the strangest things I could never wrap my mind around was how much real jewelry people leave in storage units. Jewelry is not that big you can put the most common amount of gold I found per unit could easily fit in my pants pockets. Why people leave something they could easily have with them is beyond me, but it happen and it happens frequently!
The times you do find gold in a storage auction unit , often it is damaged, crushed or broken which can obscure the stamp. A gold clean 10K, 585 or 14K, 750 or 18K or even 24K ( very rare) stamp makes gold identification a snap . 90% of the gold that I got out of storage auction units with a clean, crisp stamp was real. In either event you always test questionable gold with your acid test kit. To make your life a little easier get yourself a loup it help you will all jewelry and should be a part of your storage auction tool kit.
This is just one of the things that can make a big difference in your quest to make money with storage auctions. I have seen people literally throw away gold jewelry because it had no stamp! If you ever have the occasion to put your hands on a large volume of gold you will realize gold has a certain heft and color it takes time but you will develop the feel. If this was the only post that I ever read of yours, and it is’nt. It could change my family tree. I am planing on useing storage auctions to replace my two dead end jobs so that I will have time to make jewelry,knives and wrought iron decor. If I can get GOLD on the cheap and melt it into molds and forge some, one unit could change my life. I now know that I can test the gold. I read someware that you painted and sculpted could you even fantom a hand forged sold gold sculpture what would that sell for?
