Brandon Lee of Theta Delta Chi and Stephanie Hake of Delta Zeta each won a night with Jake Locker with their chapters, as well as an autographed jersey through Alpha Xi Delta’s Philanthropy program, “Hang with Jake.” The event, which was a part of the larger Miss Greek program put on by Delta Tau Delta, is designed to raise money for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

The event started at 6:30 P.M. when other chapters in the Greek community began arriving at the Delta Tau Delta house. Locker arrived early to sign some memorabilia and take pictures with the girls of Alpha Xi Delta, who were very excited to have him.
“We are very pro in supporting UW sports and philanthropies,” said Public Relations VP Sara Simmers.
When asked about how he got involved in the event, Locker responded, “I got an email. It seemed like a good cause. Anytime I have a chance to give back to the community, I try to take advantage of it.”
Next, the house auctioned off memorabilia including jerseys and footballs for a total of $775. The highest bid was $215 for a football to be signed by the entire Husky football team. The bidder, Lindsey Sumner, originally hoped to win a football and jersey package for her boyfriend but confessed, “I’m keeping the football.”
After a short break, the raffle began. One sorority and one fraternity competed for a chance to spend a night with Jake Locker. Lee and Hake were the lucky winners.
When asked what her house’s plans for Jake were, Hake responded, “Our house will fight over him.”
Three of Lee’s housemates joined him for the interview and two of them answered for him. When asked about the house’s reaction to winning, Blake Alexander described winning was “possibly the greatest thing that has ever happened to our house.” As to their plans for Locker, Rick Farmer quickly quipped that they would “Make him do the dishes.” Locker said that he expected to watch a movie or have dinner, and would even be willing to toss the football around.
In total, the program made over $1,100 to support cancer research. Simmers was very excited about the success of the program: “I’m excited about how well it went. It’s great to see the Greek community come together and support one another.”
